National Cancer Survivor's  Day Celebration in Kansas City

From Siobhan  McLaughlin Lesley Executive Director of Gilda's Club

4 years ago, Gilda’s Club Kansas City assumed the role as presenter of  the National Cancer Survivor’s Day Celebration in Kansas City.  They felt

it important that the celebration also recognize a member of the community who dedicates their time, talent, and treasure in support of the Gilda’s Club vision “so that no one faces cancer alone.” We are humbled to have had 14 amazing nominations, making the selection for the committee a difficult task.

From Sara Douglas & Hope Krebill of the Masonic Cancer Alliance- who nominated me this year

Just like anyone who works with Broderick Crawford, I have been in awe of the leadership, passion, and dedication Broderick has for the cancer community, especially with regard to bringing awareness to inequities in cancer treatment. As the KU Cancer Center Community Advisory Board Chair and a founding member of the PIVOT Patient Leadership team, he ensures that bi-directional communication occurs between leadership, physicians, researchers, patients, and communities.

From Broderick Crawford

I am truly honored to be named the Cancer Survivor’s Day Community Impact Award Winner. Having had a cancer impact myself with my Father’s journey, my experience fuels my passion to share the need for quality cancer care for any person, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender identification, faith, or ability to pay. On behalf of those communities, thank you.
